What we're growing for you

First cut scheduled for late June 2026. After harvest, hay is sun-dried in the field and baled, then moved into our covered drying greenhouse on pallets. The blackout walls keep it dark, dry, and cool, preventing moisture from entering the bales and stopping the sun from continuing to draw out nutrients. It stays green, nutritionally intact, and is packed into your box only when your shipment leaves the farm.

Orchard grass field at Bloom & Bale, Central Oregon Orchard Grass

Orchard Grass

Long, sturdy orchard grass grown without synthetic fertilizers, fed with brewer's discharge for a natural nutrient profile. Sun-dried in the field, baled, then stored in our covered drying greenhouse with blackout walls to keep it dark, dry, and cool. Passed through our dust removal system before packing. Green, nutritionally intact, and lot-coded to the day it was cut.

Why orchard grass? Grass hay should make up 80% or more of your rabbit or guinea pig's daily diet. The long-strand fiber drives healthy gut motility and prevents the digestive stalls that are a leading cause of illness in small herbivores. Orchard grass is lower in calcium than legume hays such as alfalfa, making it the recommended primary hay for adult rabbits and guinea pigs. Research published in Animal Feed Science and Technology (Gidenne, 2015) identifies adequate long-strand dietary fiber as the single most important nutritional factor in preventing digestive disease in rabbits.

Why subscription is the right way to buy hay.

Nutrition that holds Sun-dried in the field, baled, then stored in our covered drying greenhouse with blackout walls to keep it dark, dry, and cool. Properly stored orchard grass retains its nutritional profile for months. Your hay is as nutritionally intact when it ships as the day it was baled.
You never run out Hay is 80% of a rabbit's diet. Running low and ordering from a pet store is a compromise. Consistent monthly delivery means consistent nutrition.
Lot-to-lot traceability Every box carries a lot number tied to a specific cut, field, and date. Your subscription builds a record of every batch your animal has ever eaten.
Capacity is real, not marketing 450 subscribers is our hard ceiling. Not a soft limit we will quietly expand. Once it is full, new customers join a waitlist, not the subscription.

Origin

Bloom & Bale hay comes from one farm in Central Oregon's high desert. Volcanic soil mineral profile that mass-market suppliers cannot access or replicate.

Quality

Sun-dried in the field, baled, then stored in our covered drying greenhouse on pallets. Blackout walls keep it dark, dry, and cool. Nutrition stays locked in. Passed through our dust removal system before packing, and packed only when your shipment leaves the farm.

Transparency

Every box carries a lot number tied to a specific cut, harvest date, and field. "Harvested June 2026, Central Oregon" is more honest than "fresh from our farm."

Care

Hay is 80% of a rabbit's diet. It deserves the same care any serious pet food should carry. Not compressed into a mystery plastic bag from a faceless supplier.
